1. I feel like they really want fans to write a vampire AU... I mean, I realise this is set in a hospital, but still.
2. Every time Nino is in a drama/film where someone plays his mother, I become a huge fan of the mother for some reason. Harue! You are great! I would marry your son and eat his rice but I am already married, sorry.
3. Miwa in regular clothes instead of her uniform was cute :D (Although the nurse uniform is also cute, I like the sleeve parts.)
4. Lol Sera eavesdropping and crying, ridiculous. I love it.
5. I was hoping for more detailed revelations about Saeki and Tokai Ichiro's backstory... oh well. Maybe soon?
6. NISHIZAKI IS THE WORST HUMAN
7. Nino was so tiny and murdery this week, I loved it ♥
8. Was that Tokai wearing a Teika coat in the preview?!?!?! Whose terrible plan was that?
9. Kurosaki continues to be pathetic. What an enjoyable character. I am enjoying his failures and suffering a lot, haha.

10. So head nurse was really in on the whole thing after all... interesting. I get the impression that Kurosaki was there at the time but doesn't necessarily know what really went down, only the official story?
11. I wondered how rare the blood would be, so I looked it up (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blood_type_distribution_by_country). For a patient with A- blood, you can use A- or O- blood for transfusion, so in Japan that's only 0.2 + 0.15 = 0.35% of the population as potential donors. Here in the UK, it would be 7+7=14% of the population, so it would be a bit easier.

No, I definitely hate him too! He's constantly trying to throw Tojo under the bus so he can get a job with Teika, and when Harue was dying he was just like "but the clinical trial" >:( what a jerk.

I seriously hated Takashina that moment. Like, how could you go behind his back like that with something untested and the way Tokia says he doesnt trust technology with good reason, I sort of started feeling sorry for Takashina, but then his betrayal of Tokai is just too much.
Tokia was so pissed throughout, I can't imagine him being so worried for his mother and trying to get a way to do her surgery himself.
And Kinoshita as well, guess she doesn't have any loyalties to anyone.
God, I was so pissed with everyone. Really thought his mom would die. And Tokia would go on a rampage and kill everyone.

And Sera and Aoi finding out a little about Tokai and Saeki. Man.. I though we'd finally get to know something about the black pean.

Though I guess, bit Tokais dad and Saeki must have made the mistake but Saeki pushed it all on Tokai. The moving of all the old documents was so shady. What else is there in it?

Someone had to take out Nishizaki, I hope next episode since Tokia is somehow in that university he takes him down as well.

Takashina made me so mad this week... will he never learn? And he must have known he was doing something wrong, sneaking in to see Harue while everyone else was busy with the emergency.
This was definitely the episode that made me most worried that a patient would die D:

I guess we learned a little bit more about the history between them all, but I want to know more!

i love that sera is beginning to be a skilled surgeon?? as in, that’s because of tokai’s training. yesssss?? i love it.

i wonder how true it is that tokai’s dad committed medical malpractice?? is it really tokai’s dad or is it saeki?? i have a feeling it’s the latter.

sera crying and eavesdropping is g o l d e n. also, sera and miwa have impeccable luck. they are always there in the right moments 😂

i am already so confused with this kinoshita character. are u good / evil / just concerned with money??

Yeah, I was really surprised that Takashina would go behind Tokai's back like that and follow Nishizaki's orders again, after the the last episode.

Sera is doing great! I'm so pleased. Also good eavesdropping skills, haha.

Yeah, I wonder if Kinoshita has some other motives too, or if she just wants to eat at expensive restaurants and cause trouble...

Tbh, I could only watch on “Black Pean” mode once each ep, and for every rewatch, my thought was “such a beautiful eyes” or “such a small boy among two tall men” or “hamburger hand operating patient” XDD

When he said (rephrased) “wherever I go, my duty won’t change”, I was like “ya of course he’d say that on his beloved sofa” XDD
And this is a wild guess, but maybe he moved there knowing that Teika is analyzing...or should I say “using his mom’s data to analyze” Caesar? Idk tho, we’ll know next ep I guess XDD

10. Ya, and maybe we can expect a battle between Miwa-chan and headnurse too? LOL jk, that’d be a bad delivery, but I do want to see more of Miwa-chan in action!

11. This sure brings back memory to my High school biology! Technically, O is a universal donor iirc, but according to my teacher, they don’t do O transfusion to anyone w/ non-O blood type. Is that true?

+. Tbh, I LOVE Sera’s character development! From trembling on ep 3 to a dependable assistant! Tokai-sensei always tell people around the OP to “think ahead on what to do next” and I think Sera is now used to it that Tokai-sensei gave him orders on the tone he uses talking to Nekota!
Also! Love how Sera agreedly focused onfinished the stitching, focused enough to not be bothered by other doctors’ comment~

4. Ah it was so hilarious. This show has a lot of unexpected comedy moments for me XD Good job, Sera.

7. Same here - since I watch each scene a bunch of times to sub, after a while I stop thinking "oh Tokai is cool and murdery" and start thinking "oh it's Nino's cute face", haha.

10. Oh, I wonder if it will happen. I liked when she yelled at Takashina in the previous episode too, so it will be good if Miwa gets to express her opinions more!

11. I think they prefer to use the matching type if they can, but O can be used for others in an emergency... I think it would be more likely for Rh- types, since it would be harder to keep enough stock of each type. I looked on the site of the blood donation service for the UK, and it says that even though only 7% of the population have O- blood, 13% of hospital requests are for that type, since it can be given to almost anyone.

+ I agree! He did a great job in the emergency stitching part. Even though he didn't get much to do in the main plot this time, you can still see his growth. Hopefully he won't start to care about his impact factor too much instead...

2. I also likes Tokai's mother here and I would love to see more interactions between the mother and son. It would be great if she can find a good daughter-in -law too, but given Tokai's character it won't be easy for her I think. LOL. Actually, it would be great if DR. Tokai has a woman who loves him by his side, but this is a medical drama after all with no romance. Sigh!

8.Really curious to know what made Dr. Tokai to go in to Teika. Is it something included in his plan for revenge?

10. I am really curious about the head nurse's actions too.(Does she really support Saeki or not? Or does she have some hidden agenda?)

And the other thing I can't figure out is Kinoshita. Exactly whose side is she on? Does she only needs money, so she closely associates all the doctors and betrays them when she doesn't need them?

2. Yeah, I'm not really expecting any romance subplots, given how much else there is going on. Although Tokai is a great character, I don't know that he's really marriage material (especially since he seems to live in the hospital, lol).

10. Right? There are so many interesting characters, I need this show to be a million episodes long so we can know everything about all of them.

Kinoshita is definitely mysterious, but maybe she just likes expensive food and watching other people argue, haha.

I second the hundred episodes point, we're already half way through, we definitely need more time to delve into these characters. Each are so rich and diverse. And definitely need more of Jama Tokai. He is such a cool character, how he came to be this way, or who trained him and taught him, so much material that could be shown.

What an intense episode!! I loved everything about it, especially the question: "Which one of you will marry my son?" hahaha Harue, you don't waste your time, do you?

I noticed that Tokai's tone of voice when giving commands to Sera changed completely during the episode. During the first OP he sounded very annoyed. Then during the emergency he was much gentler and during his mum's OP his tone was like when he speaks to Neko. Such honour, Sera!

I was seriously perplexed by the blood thing, as I have exactly the same type, A-. It's never been a problem for me, though, so I never thought about it (and I've had about 3 operations). But as I checked the Wikipedia page, in my country (Poland) it's an even lower percentage than in the UK (6+6). Better not get injured if I ever go to Japan ;)

Kinoshita is really an enigma, what a great player among silly overambitious men ;)

And I loved the high-pitched squeak made by Moriya chief when Tokai said it was the hospital's fault. The whole cast is just brilliant!

Sera is definitely doing well. Even the medical commentary this week talks about it! It's interesting to see how Tokai's and the other residents' reactions to him are changing.

I was surprised by the blood too, but I guess <1% is a much bigger problem to deal with than 6-7% availability. Stay safe if you go! :)

first of all i wanna thank you for the hardwork subbing this drama. i just joined the party after my thesis finish so ive marathoned all those 6 episodes! And black pean is so good, i love it everytime tokai said something rude :') 💛

ANYWAY, this episode is the most emotional for me so far. bcause... his mother! ugh im pissed with takashina, i hate everyone, i wanna hug tokai. And finally i find Sera and Miwa has a significant role in the drama ugh, it tooks 6 episode?! wkwk

Cant wait for the next episode, hope to see more tokai's father stories.

My prediction from ep 1 that they'll make his mom sick came true and although my other prediction that he'll use his money to saver her is off, Harue getting sick really got me. Like, I cried watching the preview.
I am wondering if what they said was true that Tokai really planed to operate on his mom from the beginning. Is it why he was asking from compensation? He was ready leave Tojo to save his mom?

Takashina is haaaaay, why? We have seen he is also a skilled surgeon but why is he pushing so hard for the new equipment even putting people lives at risk?

Moriya is a comical, unlikeable character that sometimes I question if really he is the Chief?
Also, what is Saeki position in the hospital? He seems more powerful in terms of decision making.


Kurosaki sensei is just bad. Follows orders to a fault but cant even do his job properly.

It's hard to say, but in the end I think there's no one else at that hospital he'd trust to operate on her at this stage.

I think Moriya is that administrative head of the hospital and Saeki is head of the heart surgery department, but since he's the one that made this rural hospital famous, he has a lot more unofficial power and control.
