Dear Yuletide writer, this letter is mostly a copy of one I wrote two years ago, because my tastes have not changed that much. I hope you enjoy writing whichever of my requests you were assigned! Here is some rambling about what I like and don't like in a fic.

Good things: I like happy things! Angst can be good too, but I really prefer happy endings. I like both gen, het and slash, and while I am happy to read sex scenes they definitely aren't a requirement! For fics focused on pairings, I'm usually more into first-time fic than established relationships (I especially love seeing characters who like each other but are awkwardly unable to talk to each other about it, if that makes sense). For gen, I love hearing more about things which were only mentioned in the canon as background detail. But you know, feel free to ignore any of these things and write whatever your heart desires! So long as you have fun writing it, I'm sure I'll enjoy reading it :)

Squicks: non-canonical character deaths, non-consensual sex, graphic violence. Also, for my RPF requests, please keep mentions of the nominated individuals' real-life partners and family members to a minimum.

Here is a copy of the request details from my sign-up form. Fandoms: Masterchef (TV) RPF, Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Whose Line Is It Anyway? RPF. )

Thanks again! :)

ETA: Also! I will be visiting my boyfriend's parents on Christmas day so I might not be able to read your story right away. Just so you know :)

Dear Yuletide writer,

As signups week this year is coinciding with my being on holiday and having limited internet access, this letter will be pretty short. Thank you for writing me a story! I greatly look forward to reading it.

My previous two letters can be found under my yuletide tag - which I would link too if I knew where the equals sign was on a Japanese keyboard! But I will tag this post as well so you should be able to find it. They should give you an idea of the kinds of things I like.

I can not think of anything to add to my request details right now, but I shall come back and edit this post if anything occurs to me in the next few weeks and find a keyboard whose punctuation I can find.

For reference, my requests:

Oldboy (2003)
Lee Woo-jin, Mi-do
What I would love is some (creepy) backstory for Mi-do, as she grows up while Dae-su is imprisoned, and Woo-jin's involvement.

Muppet Treasure Island (1996)
Jim Hawkins, Long John Silver
Some (post-movie) Jim Hawkins and Long John Silver would be awesome (slash or otherwise).

Sarah Jane Adventures
Man, I don't even mind what you write about this, I love it all. Some ideas to help you out, though: post-The Empty Planet Clyde/Rani? Luke at university talking to Maria on Facebook? Sarah Jane and Gita, unexpected BFFs?

Thanks again and sorry for this unhelpful letter!

I guess I didn't post about my Yuletide Madness gifts yet! How remiss of me - at least I remembered before the reveal? I got two Lost Odyssey fics, Blessing and Eastward Lull, both of which are wonderful. (I can't believe someone wrote me something about the Upstreamers... yay!)

I think I'm done reading Madness stories for now, but I still have many of the stories from the main Yuletide collection to read. So far I've found... 23 that I really especially enjoyed, which I have bookmarked on AO3 should you wish to investigate them. I'll add more as I get to them, I guess!

Yesterday I discovered my new favourite TMNT episode: SuperQuest. The plot of this season is that they sort of accidentally decompiled Splinter and have to go into the internet to find his bits, and in this episode they for some reason have to win a quest in a MMORPG to do so. Mikey obviously already plays this game and is obsessed with it. Raphael gets turned into a frog. Leo is a changeling and turns himself into a variety of animals, including a giraffe! It is so hilarious, you guys. I love it. XD

Sadly there are now only about five episodes and one film of TMNT left until I have seen them all. (But then I shall just have to read the comics!)

Hello! Are you all having a good day? I totally am. Christmas has been super fun! I got hairbands and nonfiction books and a recipe book of Spanish recipes and a paella pan and a torch. And for Boxing Day my dad wrote poems for me, my sister and my brother! They are HILARIOUS.

I will photograph my poem and show it to you later. :D

Plus Doctor Who was brilliant, right? Donna! John Simm! Yay.

For Yuletide I got a most brilliant fic: always, division, about Mahalia from The City & The City. It is so great and matches the half-formed ideas I had while writing my prompts exactly! I haven't read many of the other fics on the archive yet, but there are also fics on there for the other fandoms I requested! And my recipient appears to like her fic.

The only annoying thing is that I apparently have two treats written for me in Yuletide Madness, but I can't get at them yet. *anticipates*

Dear Yuletide writer,

Hello! And thanks for signing up for Yuletide. I hope you enjoy writing whichever of my requests you were assigned! Before I get on to fandom specifics, here is some rambling about what I like and don't like in a fic. (May contain overuse of exclamation marks.)

Good things: I like happy things! Angst can be good too, but I really prefer happy endings. Squicks: non-canonical character deaths, non-consensual sex, graphic violence. Also, while crossovers or wildly AU things can be fun for some fandoms, they aren't really what I'm after from my requests this year.

So as for my requests:

China Mieville - The City & The City, Little Mosque On The Prairie and Lost Odyssey )

I hope this was in some way helpful or at least not too unhelpful. I'll be at my parents' house for Christmas so while I hope to be able to read your fic as soon as the archive opens, I may not be able to get to your fic right away (particularly as they've been having a lot of technical difficulties over the past few months). But I will try my best!

Thank you! :)

Happy New Year to you all! I hope you made good use of your extra leap second. I for one did not, but never mind. Also, three cheers for Sir Terry Pratchett are clearly in order! \o/\o/\o/

Do any of you know how to pronounce "Canynge"? William Canynge was a Bristolian merchant in the 15th century and there is a building near my flat which is named after him, but I do not know how to say it. It's very annoying.

Apparently we are now allowed to reveal which [livejournal.com profile] yuletide fics we wrote. I only wrote one: Hamster's Long Weekend, a Top Gear RPF (titled by Adam, because I couldn't come up with anything). My recipient, [livejournal.com profile] spike21, apparently liked it a lot, so yay! :D

If you didn't read it yet (and why not?), it is basically the three presenters of Top Gear going on a road trip and arguing with each other a lot. It is possibly less slash-filled than the actual tv show! Writing it was a lot of fun :)

Also! The fic which I received, That Awful, Dramatised Motion Picture, was written by [livejournal.com profile] themicemen. Thank you again! :D

Look what I got for Yuletide! AWESOME. It is Daneel/Giskard fic! How brilliant is that?

*glee*

(Also my recipient has sent me an extremely gleeful comment, hooray! :D)

Now I am off to read the comments on Shaney's fic!

Merry Christmas to all who want one, and to everyone else, happy Thursday!

I just got my Yuletide assignment. I now... still have fear, but slightly less than before. Hooray!

Anyway: Dear Yuletide writer )

And now: to stalk my own Yuletide recipient and/or write more of the non-Yuletide-related fic I just started!
